About Me
I'm Bella. Mother to Ponnd. Founder, designer and creative technologist with a fairly long history of doing things unconventionally.
I left school at 15 to pursue ballet, which took me to New York, a city I called home for four years. Since then I've built businesses across fashion, design and events, collecting a somewhat accidental education in branding, storytelling, community and entrepreneurship along the way.
My first business, VacancyMode, grew from a handmade jewellery project into a global customer base, with more than 10,000 pieces beaded by hand. Later, I founded LRC, a graphic design studio specialising in visual identity, branding and stationery design for hospitality, lifestyle and consumer brands.
Now I'm building Ponnd.
Feels like the convergence of everything I've spent the last decade obsessed with: identity, technology, design, careers and the internet. I love creating things that help people better understand themselves and each other. I love creating things that help people better understand themselves and each other. Products are particularly special because they live beyond the designer. They're touched, shaped and interpreted by those that use them.
Likes
Long lunches that accidentally become dinner. Horses. Briny food. Lao Gan Ma. Crisp white sheets. Strong opinions, lightly held. Beautiful interfaces. People who know what they want. Silliness.
Dislikes
Corporate theatre. Loud chewing. Portfolio gatekeeping. Ambiguity. Meetings that could have been an email. Overstimulating environments. Parking without a reverse camera.
